Off Madison Ave is an integrated strategic communications agency, located in Tempe, Arizona, that provides services in advertising, public relations, media, graphic design, strategy and Internet marketing. The driving force behind every piece of our work is measurability. We design, build and sustain programs that provide our clients with results they can see and measure.
We've put an immense amount of effort into building an atypical agency - we recognize that our most valuable resource is our people. We draw on the national and international experience of agency's talent and because of that we are able to offer our clients the highest caliber of creative and strategic expertise.
When we had the idea of Off Madison Ave, many of our contemporaries told us that Phoenix did not need another agency. And we agreed. We set out to build an agency that solved the problems of its clients and not the kind of agency that sold ads to them. Eight years later, this is still the philosophy we stand behind.
David Anderson and Roger Hurni started the agency 1998 in Roger's garage. Two guys, a business plan and some VC funding - you can read the VC as Visa Cards. But that quickly changed with Off Madison Ave's first client, Integrated Information Systems. Six months later our first employee was hired. Which, David and Roger admit was even scarier than starting the company. From there, the company grew quickly by the good fortune of our clients' recommendations to other companies. After one year in business the staff had grown to 7.
By the end of year two, the staff had grown to 12 and meeting in Roger's living room had become problematic (his wife, Joanne had grown tired of her dining room table being the company conference room). So the company moved into its first office space in Tempe on Hayden Square (the second scariest thing to date). The growth continued and we were out of room within two years so we moved to Hayden Ferry Lakeside and tripled our office space (we're over the scary thing now).
And while we have grown significantly over the years, our humble beginnings are very important to us - which is why we have a conference room with a garage door as its entry. It's a continuing reminder as to how we started the agency and it ensures we stay true to our ideals and the unique agency culture we've created.
From two guys in a garage, the Off Madison Ave team has grown to a staff of 60. In the past two years alone, the agency has grown by more than 60%. We service clients in cities all over the United States and the United Kingdom. Like many industries, the marketing and communications industry is cyclical - there are always peaks and valleys. What has allowed us to grow is our ability to adapt to the ever-changing marketing environment, adding new services and communication models that exceed the expectations of our clients. One example of this is the addition of Mighty Interactive in 2005. It's no secret that online advertising is a critical component of today's marketing strategies. We were able to identify this trend before many other agencies and bring the number one Interactive firm in the state into the agency, in turn expanding our list of services. Today, many of our competitors are struggling to catch up as we continue to stay ahead of the industry curve.
