The Next Social Networks

Now this is promising - The Next Social Network The basic gist is your personal blog will become your social networking homepage, akin to your user page on MySpace, Facebook, etc. The software will be capable of linking up with other installations to effectively make the end-user the person with the power. (As it should be, in my opinion.) Next year is going to be very, very interesting. The idea of making social networks distributed just makes sense. This won't appeal to non-techies at first, but you can bet there will be services designed for the average user based around this premise.
