Apple Is Now Distributing A Rails Application
Earlier today Apple released its
iPhone Configuration Utility, which enables businesses to configure iPhones for use in specific environments. Interestingly enough, this is application is built in Rails.
This isn't the first time we've heard of a Rails application being deployed for desktop use; Mighty Interactive built just such an application for a client early in 2007.

Eric Reid says:
What would be the application that? So a business could outfit their employees with iPhones that are part of their network?
Joseph says:
It makes it easy to define a stock configuration for iPhones used in a business environment. Imaging preconfiguring Exchange, VPN, and all that good stuff. My understanding is it also enables the "remote destroy" functionality, so the data on an iPhone can be nuked by remote if it's lost or stolen.
