Financial News Fatigue

The term “voter fatigue” isn’t new – in fact, I’d be willing to bet that most of us are already experiencing an overload of dreadful campaign ads – but a whole new form of fatigue is starting to set in. Financial News Fatigue. The news surrounding the implosion of global financial markets is inescapable. It is everywhere from NPR to the local News Show to Dr. Phil (I know, this isn’t news) and takes up about 53 minutes of every hour of news. Don’t get me wrong, the financial stability and health of our government and our citizens is very important, but the constant deluge of closing companies, job loss, home loss, bailouts and the like is starting to wear on my love of news consumption. I never thought I would long for the days of Britney Watch 2008, but I’m not sure I can take much more of the Nasdaq news overload.
