Facebook Marketing: How to REALLY Use It

As expressed in a recent AdAge article titled, "Facebook Is Too Crowded and Your Analytics Aren't Up to Snuff," Facebook marketing is becoming a cluttered mess, and it is for one simple reason: advertisers are using it without understanding how to really use it. There are so many features available by Facebook for business and marketing folks to really target using the demographic information companies spend years collecting from customers. Here are the available options: FB I've heard people talking around the office that men are being served ads for breast augmentations, and non-singles are being served dating site ads. These are both simple issues that advertisers can easily avoid by checking the Female and Single boxes. Taking the time to set up your campaign correctly ensures that you do not waste impressions and clicks on users that will never convert into customers. Note to Facebook users: If you don't mention that you are Male or Female, Single or In a Relationship, etc, then you will probably be served ads that do not apply to you. Again, if you are frustrated by the ads, then change your profile to reflect who you really are. As an agency, we have had great success with Facebook marketing since its launch, with really low cost per clicks and cost per thousands, and really high conversion rates (over 40%). We saw these results because we used all the audience targeting options and understood what Facebook users wanted to see.

Thanks for pointing this out to me. I'm not aware of anyone having any particular success with FB marketing. It's entirely possible that the people I know have simply misused it.
