How To Tell Your Story
My good friend Laura Capello is one of those rare people who gives and gives and gives and rarely asks for anything in return. So when she asks you to give a presentation, show up to an event, or support a cause – you say “yes!” I’ve had the privilege of being asked to speak (by Laura) to ASU’s Lodestar group twice now; first at their 17th Annual Conference and then to the Generation Next Leadership Academy.
She asked me to think about the most important thing I wanted to impart to non-profit leaders and up-and-comers, and the one thing that kept coming up was helping them tell their story. I work with some of the most amazing non-profit organizations in my role at Off Madison Ave and they each have a compelling story – yet sometimes they just don’t know how to tell it, to whom and how to get it out there.
Hence, the presentation “How to tell your story,” was developed just for my good friends at Lodestar. While this presentation may be short on verbal content (I’m more of an audience-participation presenter, just ask Celeste at Planned Parenthood AZ whom I called on many times in both presentations) I hope you get the gist from the visual cues. If not, I will gladly give it again, especially if Laura asks!
I’m happy to say I’ve heard great feedback from folks like Christina at the ASU President’s Club and Kim over at the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation that they have already started working on refining their stories and defining the audiences that are critically important to their objectives. Way to go ladies!
So what’s your story? And more importantly, do you have the tools to tell it to the audience that matters most to you? If you’re not sure, give us a call. We love helping those making a difference in our own backyard.
